Top 7 Universities to Study Nursing in Regional areas, Australia

Sharing is caring :)

Studying abroad with a degree in Skilled Occupation List (SOL) has become an ideal option for non-Australian students since this move is a great start for those who aim to gain Permanent Residency (PR) in Australia. The typical eligible skilled occupations are Health Care, Accounting, Engineering, etc. However, the journey of getting PR has been more challenging and competitive these days due to the increased volume of international students graduating with a degree in SOL. Therefore, most international students decide to study in a designated regional area from the beginning, which allows them to gain extra 5 points on the Migration Point Test.

We have come up with the list of Top 7 Universities to Study Nursing in Regional Australia in this article!!!

What is Regional Australia?

Regional Areas are purely understood as rural areas where the availability of goods, transportation systems, employment opportunities, and means of entertainment are limited. However, according to the Department of Home Affairs, from 16 November 2019 onwards, all areas of Australia except capital cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane are counted as regional areas.

Why study Nursing in Regional Areas?

1. Benefits on Visa Pathways

  • Briefly, the regional areas give students a chance to claim additional points compared to those who are studying in non-regional areas. Completing at least 1 degree, diploma or trade qualification that meets the conditions of Australian Study Requirement while living in an eligible regional area in Australia, you will add on extra 5 points on your skilled list.
  • International graduates with a bachelor or higher qualification from regional campuses will be eligible to access an additional 1-2 years on a post-study work visa. Studying in regional areas, you will probably have more time to find a job and prepare for PR than the other graduates who studied in capital cities.

2. Career Opportunities

  • The Australian government is encouraging migrations to make a regional move because of the lack of skilled workers in these areas. There are many regional towns actively seeking international workers to fill their occupations
  • While studying, you will be prepared to work in various environments such as hospitals, communities, schools, travel agencies, sporting clubs, research organisations in urban, rural, and remote areas. The opportunities to experience different workplaces will allow students to expand their skills set and be highly successful in their postgraduate journey.

3. Lower cost of living

The cost of living in regional areas are relatively cheaper compared to capital cities. You can save approximately AUD$ 5000 per year if you start your student life in regional Australia. Further than that, compared to the metropolitan cities, both rental and purchasing housing prices are lower in regional areas. The dream of owning a house in Australia is not daydreaming.
