Sharing is caring :)

When its comes to choosing engineering courses, it’s hard to pinpoint which courses you are good at. Most graduates often struggle in choosing engineering courses provided by variety of universities. Although engineering jobs are more than just 6 types but in this article, we will be providing an overview on the six types of common engineering jobs, with a brief explanation on the duty for each type of engineers.

If you decide to study engineering courses, the very first challenge you will need to overcome is science and math, engineers figure out how things work and find practical uses for scientific discoveries. Engineers will need to be proficient in a variety of skills including design, implement, evaluate, and control. In some cases, engineers will also need to troubleshoot, conduct failure analysis and correct it.

1. Civil Engineering

Civil engineering jobs are considered as the most popular, oldest, and ancient in the engineering industry. Engineers are concerned with all types of structures including dams, bridges, pipelines, roads, towers and buildings. A civil engineer consultant is accountable for communicating the plan between the customer and contracting technicians. Contracting technicians take the consulting engineer’s plans and start physical project development.

Salary for entry-level: RM1,900-RM3,300

2. Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineers are involved in the design and construction of machines. The area of mechanical engineering covers other elements such as transportation, robotics, drones, colling and heating systems. Mechanical engineers who work in the manufacturing firms are needed to determine and measure the strengths and temperature of environment to be encountered by the product, skillfully craft components that is functional, aesthetics and durable to ensure the success of operation without failure.

Salary for entry-level: RM1,900-RM2,900

3. Chemical Engineering

Chemical engineering are associated with chemical with knowledge such as physics and microbiology. Chemical engineers are involved in production, pharmaceutical, healthcare, design and construction, food processing, specialty chemicals, polymers, biotechnology and environmental health and safety sectors. The distinction between chemical engineers and other kinds of engineers is that they apply their understanding of chemistry into it.

Salary for entry-level: RM1,700-RM2,600

4. Petroleum Engineering

Petroleum engineering guarantees that energy remains a main element of the functioning of society and the daily lives of people. Petroleum engineers are solving major problems contributing to energy security and domestic prosperity. The understanding of physics, geology, chemistry, and math are essential in the field of petroleum engineering. Petroleum engineering is all about analytical optimization of the production of oil.

Salary for entry-level: RM2,300-RM3,300

5. Electrical Engineering

If you are interested in electronics, this is the ideal field for people to explore. This sector often deals with electrical-powered technology interconnectivity. It includes employment that helped build telegraph, telephone, radio, television, and electronics infrastructure. As the modern field of electrical engineering becoming more complex, the electrical engineering is categorised into different types of sections or jobs based on their own expertise.

Salary for entry-level: RM2,500-RM3,500

6. Aerospace Engineering

Aerospace and avionics engineering jobs are an industry that uses engineers responsible for air transport design and structure, such as aircraft or spacecraft, and the aircraft’s inner structure. It dealt with the mathematics and physics of airplanes. Aerospace engineers are liable for the craft’s own structure, while Avionics technicians are liable for the craft’s inner electronics. However, the field now encompasses space travel.
