Types of Twinning Programmes in Malaysia with UK
The Twinning Programme is commonly named after numbers, which refer to the years of study in the home country and the partner universities’ country. Typically, we will see the Twinning Programme in such format “1 + 2”, which will be translated into one year of study in the home country and two years in the partner university country. That being said, students are to transfer the earned credit from their home country to the partner university to complete their education there while being exposed to the different culture.
Here are some of the popular types of Twinning Programmes available in Malaysia with the UK:
- 1.5 + 1.5 programme: For this programme, the students are required to study 1.5 years in Malaysia and complete the remaining 1.5 years in the UK. The tuition fee for such a programme is divided equally between Malaysia and the UK, and the students are able to experience the different education syllabuses.
- 1 + 2 programme: A 1 + 2 programme means that the students have to spend one year studying in Malaysia and then two years studying in the UK. The students can move their education pathway from Malaysia to experience more comprehensive tutoring in the UK. However, this programme may be more expensive than other types of Twinning Programmes because the students will need to spend more time there.
- 2 + 1 / 2 + 2 programme: In the 2 + 1 or 2 + 2 programmes, the students will study in Malaysia for the first two years and complete the remaining years in the UK. This programme is a popular choice among Malaysian students because it offers an affordable way to gain global recognition without incurring high costs. Additionally, the students get to experience the final year of their studies in an overseas context.
- 3 + 0 programme: This programme enables the students to finish the entire degree in Malaysia without the need to move to the UK. The degree is given by the UK partner university. In comparison to the previous programmes, this one is the most economical because the students only have to pay for the required expenses in Malaysia, and they can save money on accommodation and living costs.
