What is the Pandemic COVID-19 current situation?
As of the date 11 August 2020, Malaysia recorded 9 new cases increasing the total number of cases to 9103. Amidst the small number of cases reported daily, we are still living in fear and uncertainty every day — it all depends on us now.
Governments across the world have established necessary measures to control the transmission of the COVID-19 coronavirus. While the constant implementation of lockdowns and social distancing are proved to be effective in flattening the curve, the restrictions have negatively impacted lifestyles, businesses and the general economy inevitably.
How has it affected the Economic Sectors?
According to media reports — Malaysia’s unemployment rate reached five percent in April 2020, an increase from 3.4 percent in April last year which is recorded as the highest since 1990.

- Accommodation and food services
- Real estate, business and administrative activities
- Manufacturing
- Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles
