Study in Regional Areas in Australia

Sharing is caring :)

In recent years, more and more international students prefer to study in Regional Areas in Australia. The Australian government reported an increase of 10% of international students choosing to study in the Regional Areas in the year of 2018. Most of the students were reportedly from China, India, Nepal, Malaysia, South Korea and the United States of America.

Not only that,  Regional Australia Institute reported that about 32,000 Australian millennials moved away from big cities and started to live in the Regional Area from the period 2011 to 2016.

But where are Regional Areas and why both Australian millennials and international students prefer to stay and study in these areas?

List of Regional Areas in Australia

Regional Australia includes all of the towns, small cities and areas that lie beyond the major capital cities. According to the Australian Government, the areas below are the listed regional areas.

State

Areas

New South Wales

Everywhere except Sydney, Newcastle, the Central Coast and Wollongong

Northern Territory

Everywhere in the territory

Queensland

Everywhere except the greater Brisbane area

South Australia

Everywhere in the state

Tasmania

Everywhere in the state

Victoria

Why Study in Regional Areas in Australia?

1. Low Cost of Living

Bigger cities such as Melbourne and Sydney have a very high cost of living due to the expensive accommodation. According to news.com.au, the cost of living in Sydney, New South Wales  is AUD$ 2,681.48 while Hobart, Tasmania is only AUD$ 1,208.33. The cost difference between these 2 cities is AUD $1,473.15. So, studying in the Regional Area will definitely save you some money and you can use that to explore Australia while on summer break.

2. Enjoy the nature of Australia

You will get away from the busy lifestyle in the cities and you will enjoy the breeze of Australian beaches. You will not be pressured and stressed to follow their hectic life because you will be able to study in a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. You will be surrounded with nature yet equipped with advanced city facilities. Now it is understandable why Australian millennials chose to stay in the Regional Areas.

3. Migration Opportunities

Graduates with a bachelor or higher qualification from a regional campus of a registered institution will be eligible for an additional 2 years in Australia on a post-study work visa. This will  eventually lead to an extra 5 points on the Immigration Points Tests, which may boost your opportunity to gain Permanent Residency in Australia. To know more about the post-study work visa, contact us now!

So, if you are interested in studying in one of the Regional Areas in Australia, we have prepared all the universities in the Regional Areas along with their top programs below.

Top Universities to Study Filmmaking in Malaysia

Sharing is caring :)

Do you smile, laugh, and cry while watching films such as Avengers, Wonder Woman and the Harry Potter movies series? Are you curious why these films managed to capture the heart of many? Not only that, you also have the passion to make films one day and are passionate to see your masterpiece in the cinema or you want to be a great YouTuber that produces inspiring video content?

If you answer all yes, you can start your journey  by studying filmmaking.

In this article we will cover the stages of filmmaking, the entry requirements and recommended universities to study this course in Malaysia.

What is Film Making?

Filmmaking is the process of producing a film. It  is about producing a story that makes a long-lasting impact that touches and captures the heart of audiences.  There are 5 stages to create a film and these stages are not limited to only making film but it can also be used in making videos such as TV shows, Youtube videos and even wedding videos.

1. Development

The stage is where a screenplay is written while the financial budget is discussed and obtained. This is also when the script and storyboard are being produced.

2. Pre-production

Production crew that are highly experienced will be gathered, actors and actresses will be cast and the location of shooting will be scouted. This is very important to make sure that the shooting days will run smoothly so no pending or overshooting will happen to avoid over budget.

3. Production

This is D-Day. All the crews and the cast will come together for the shooting. This can go for months and years depending on the budget of the film. The raw footage will be collected and stored for post-production. The crew and cast will listen attentively to the film director to ensure the outcome of the film.

4. Post-production

The images, sound and necessary visual effects will be edited. The editors must understand the film directors’ mindset in order to edit the raw footage according to the script and the idea of the directors.

5. Distribution

The film will be advertised in social media, screened in cinemas or distributed to platforms such as Netflix and HBO.

Necessary Skills to be in Filmmaking Industry

Communication Skills

You need to have a very good communication skill because you will be working with actors and actresses, the production crew and everyone who is involved in and outside the film set. This is crucial to ensure the exact order is being delivered to avoid any miscommunication which may result in a film failure.

Creative

Your creativity juice must be flowing all the time. With so many films and movies created, your film must not be the same with others or you will have problems with copyright issues. Not only that, usually during the filming day, there are so many rising challenges that need to be overcome such as weather forecast, the tardiness of crews or sometimes the absence of actors. It depends on your creativity to overcome these problems to avoid delays in filming.

Technological Expert

As we are in Industrial 4.0, more advanced technology is being produced every year to create high definition films. You must constantly update yourself with new camera gears that will be used in the production. You must have high technological knowledge in every area such as camera, lighting, framing, and sounds.

Decisive

Problems will arise during production and post-production. You must be decisive to solve the problems. An example of a problem is one file of raw footage is corrupted and you are required to make a decision whether or not to continue editing or reshoot that particular scene. If editing is continued without the scene, you must change the whole script but if you choose to reshoot, you must allocate a new budget for that. Whatever the decision is, the outcome must be the best for that film.

Study Physiotherapy in Malaysia 2020

Sharing is caring :)

Fun Fact: It was the expatriates that brought physiotherapy into Malaysia and later on, Malaysians were sent under Colombo plan scholarship to service the country. Hence the birth of the Malaysian Physiotherapy Association on 19th January 1963 which was registered on 6th August the same year.

But what is physiotherapy? Why did the Malaysian government find it necessary to send her people to Colombo to service the country? Let us dive deeper into this field.

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy also commonly known as physical therapy, is a healthcare profession that treats patients to restore and maintain their mobility, health, fitness and well-being. This profession emphasizes on the ‘whole person’ approach by focusing on both prevention and rehabilitation of physical health.

Physiotherapists study the science of movement. They specialized in hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose and treat illness, injury and disability. Not only that, they have the expertise to pinpoint the cause of the patients’ injuries and they will treat the illness using physiotherapy treatments.

So if patients suffer from stroke, movement loss or even sporting injuries, physiotherapists can help them to get back their physical fitness.

Types of Physiotherapy treatments

There are several types of physiotherapy treatments and on this article we will be focusing on:

Whirlpool

This treatment is a form of hydrotherapy and is used to improve circulation, maintain clean wounds or even control inflammation. Whirlpool can be hot or cold depending on the patients’ injuries. This whirlpool bath has a motor that helps the water to move around the treated body part.

Kinesiology Taping

Also called K-Tape, is a treatment where the tape will be adhered to the skin for a few days to relieve pain, facilitate and inhibit muscles and manage swelling or bruising. The tape is made of flexible fabric that stretches and pulls as patients move.

Soft Tissue Mobilisation

This treatment uses hands-on techniques on patients’ muscles and ligaments due to soft tissue injury. It can help relax tense muscles and reduce scar tissue. Besides that, this treatment can also help in reducing swelling, circulate blood flow and relieving pain in athletic injuries.

Range of Motion (ROM) Exercises

This treatment refers to the movement of a joint from its fully flexed position to its fully extended position. There are 3 types of ROM exercises: passive, active assistance exercises and active exercises. Both passive exercises and active assistance exercises require physiotherapists to help and monitor the patients. On the other hand, active exercises patients perform movements without the assistance from physiotherapists.

Traction

Traction is a manual technique to reduce pressure on affected backbone discs that cause pain. This treatment involves manual stretching of the spine where physiotherapists use their hands to create a force on the joints and muscles to widen the spaces between vertebrae. This is to treat low back pain and neck pain to improve mobility in spines.

Reasons to Study Physiotherapy

Top Universities to Study Physiotherapy in Australia 2020

Do you know that physiotherapy was established in Australia after World War 1?

Many doctors were sceptical about using massage therapy treatment at the beginning of war. However, many soldiers required physical rehabilitation and thus, massage practitioners were able to demonstrate the effectiveness of their methods. By the end of 1918, physical therapy became widely known and at the end of 1930s, the term ‘physiotherapy’ was adopted.

But what exactly is physiotherapy and what does this treatment do? How does it help the soldiers?

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy also commonly known as physical therapy, is a science-based profession that takes a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing. This is a treatment to help people that are affected by illness, injury or disability through advice, movement, exercise and manual therapy.

Physiotherapists help to maintain health for people of all ages, help patients to manage pain and prevent disease. They will use their knowledge and skills to improve conditions related to different systems of the body such as:

Respiratory

asthma, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis

Cardiovascular

treatment after heart attack, stroke

Neuromusculoskeletal

back pain, arthritis, sport injuries

Neurological

Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis

What are the common Physiotherapy treatments?

Soft Tissue Mobilisation

This is also referred to as therapeutic massage. This treatment helps relax patient’s muscles, reduce swelling, and circulate blood flow .This is the best treatment to relieve pain related to athletic injuries.

Range of Motion (ROM) Exercises

Physiotherapists will prescribe a range of motion exercises to promote movement, facilitate circulation and encourage joint mobility. This is to prevent atrophy or any other related postural problems and also improve patient’s flexibility and independence.

Electrotherapy

This is an electrical simulation where electrodes will be attached to the skin. The electrodes will help the muscle to shorten which will in turn prevent atrophy. This treatment is suitable for patients with paralysis or severe range of motion.

Cryotherapy and Heat Therapy

This treatment is using cold or heat to apply to patients’ affected areas. Cryotherapy is using ice packs while heat therapy is using hot packs to the patients. This treatment is usually suitable for people with desk jobs or  professional athletes.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

This treatment is using sound waves to treat injuries in the body. The ultrasound frequency is targeting damaged tissue with soft beams and it will be absorbed by ligaments, tendons and fascia. This is suitable for patients with arthritis, tendonitis and muscle strain.

What are the skills required to be a Physiotherapist?

1. Empathy

Patients come in with low morale because they experience loss of control in certain areas of their physical health, which may make them feel insecure about their body. Therefore, you must have strong empathy feelings to help to restore back, not only their physical health but also psychological health.

2. Critical Thinking

You must be able to analyze and evaluate a patient’s situation in order to make a suitable diagnosis to treat the patients. You must be able to suggest appropriate treatments, actions, advice or therapy according to patients’ conditions.

3. Observational Skills

Different patients have different conditions and therefore, you must have strong observational skills to judge the severity of their conditions based on the gender, age and physical health.

4. Time Management

Normally, every session takes 1 to 2 hours per patient. You will need to observe, consult, perform exercise and come up with a treatment plan within the time given. Therefore, you must be good at managing time.
