Top Universities to Study Architecture Degrees in Australia

Sharing is caring :)

Have you always had a fascination for the shape and designs of buildings you see? Do you like the idea of working on new designs and creating beautiful spaces? Do you have a creative but also analytical mind?

If yes, architecture is definitely a career pathway for you to consider.

Architecture is known to be the art of designing and constructing to fulfill both practical and expressive desires. An architect’s main role and responsibility include: planning and creating designs for new construction projects, alterations and redevelopments. They are well knowledgeable on both art and science of building design as they are not only incharge of the external aesthetic but also the internal functionality and safety of their buildings’ occupants.

Different Specialization of Architecture

  • Landscape Architecture

Landscape Architecture focuses on outdoor spaces such as neighbourhood, parks, gardens and public spaces. Landscape architects engage in core ecological, cultural and social issues faced in the society when designing spaces to ensure efficiency and engagement with the environment. They are also in charge of deciding locations for buildings, walkways and parks in building a community. Examples of responsibilities of landscape architects: deciding types of trees in areas and types of material used for walls and walkways.

  • Interior Architecture

Interior Architecture is known as a combination between two fields of study: interior designing and architecture. It focuses on the interior of a space and its human functionality. Interior architects are usually involved in the building or rebuilding of interior environments, taking building structure and building codes into account to create a safe and habitable living space. Examples of responsibilities of interior architects: ensuring proper plumbing, electrical system as well as including sustainable designs.

  • Urban Planning

Urban Planning focuses on the study of how cities grow, change and the policies that guide towards a better quality of life through a resilient and healthy future. Urban Planning learns about the historical evolution of cities and of the discipline in a global perspective; the responsibilities of the profession, and how cities are planned and governed. However, it is also important for you to create ideas that are practical and suitable for the needs of your clients. A good architect needs to be able to combine visuals with functionality to bring a design to life.

  • Attention to Detail

Architectural drawings are known to be really detailed pieces of work that work as a guide for construction workers to rely on as a guide in constructing the building. You would need to acquire the skills in paying attention to detail as you cant afford to go wrong with any details as even a single misplaced window or faulty plumbing arrangements can affect the outcome of the entire building.

  • Computer Software Skills

What is Public Relations?

Public Relations (PR) is a strategic communication process initiated by companies, organizations or individuals to establish a mutually beneficial relationship with stakeholders. The main objective of PR is to build and maintain a positive image of a brand or organization in the eyes of the public.

Public Relations specialists develop communication plans and utilize media to create and sustain a positive brand reputation and a strong relationship with their target audience and key stakeholders including customers, partners, investors, employees, etc.

Unlike advertising, Public Relations does not work with attractive paid promotions. They often promote a business, product, idea or accomplishment by using editorial content appearing on television, radio shows, newspapers, websites, magazines or blogs.

Types of Public Relations

Media Relations

Media relations focus on the relationship between the company and the media. They often use various media outlets such as press and interviews to deliver the company’s message to their desired stakeholders. The goal is to generate positive coverage of your company or your product.

Investor Relations

Investors are essential for the success and growth of a company. Thus, this type of Public Relations is responsible for managing investor events, releases financial reports, regulatory filings and press releases as well as manages queries from analysts and media.

Public affairs

Public affairs are about building and developing relations between an organisation and politicians, governments and other key decision-makers. They work on how a company engages with the government authorities and the government’s institutional and policy systems.

Community Relations

Society plays a major role in deciding a business’ future. An organization needs to create a positive image of the brand by supporting social practices such as recycling, avoiding child labour, offering child education, equality and environmental protection.

Internal Communication

Employee relations is all about giving employees a positive view of the company they work for. Organizing employee events, conducting programmes to keep employees informed about the company’s changes and consulting on their responsibilities are some of the initiatives carried out by Public Relations to ensure employees are satisfied and motivated in the company.

Customer Relations

Customer relations refer to the ways a company interacts with its customers to develop the customer experience. Interaction with existing and potential consumers is essential to gain information on interest and prioritise through their feedback, suggestions.

Marketing Communication

Importance of Public Relations in companies

Trust plays a major role in determining the success or downfall of businesses regardless of what industries it is. Public Relations are responsible for improving the credibility of a company’s audience through a range of significant Public Relations strategies such as networking strategies, influencer connections and marketing campaigns.

An organization with a good reputation generates potential customers to find their way right to the company’s doorsteps. Public Relations experts help to craft the right messages to resonate with a company’s target customers in a way that impacts them. This will produce more leads for businesses, increasing sales, and bringing bigger profits.

Public Relations are also important in enhancing staff morale. Public Relations campaigns held within an organization are able to improve communications and motivate employees to perform their task efficiently. Public Relations also keep all employees updated and informed about the company activities and strategic plans and encourages feedback from employees. This will make employees feel that they are an important part of the organization and makes them more dedicated to the company and more productive in performing their duties.

Examples of Public Relations Campaigns

Coca Cola: Share a Coke

The “Share a Coke” campaign was launched in Australia in 2011, whereby the traditional wrapping around the Coca-Cola bottle was changed with the phrase share a Coke with…’ and a random popular name. The campaign encouraged people to find bottles with names that they have a personal connection with and share them with friends and family, then tweet about their story using the hashtag #ShareaCoke. This resulted in the growth of Coca cola’s Facebook community by 3.5% and about 29,000 hashtags were used on Twitter.

Google’s Fight Against Ebola

Google launched a campaign promising to donate $2 for every dollar people give to organizations fighting Ebola after the outbreak in the western countries became world news. Google ensured that the donation will be raised to fight Ebola and to help provide the necessary medical attention to some of the poorest regions of the world. As a result, Google was able to maximize its positive branding as the company raised $7.5 million throughout the campaign.

Stabilo Boss – Highlight the remarkable

Stabilo received an amazing response on social media as they launched a campaign highlighting women who played important roles in history and were not noticed. Stabilo took photos from historical moments and drew a yellow highlight line to expose the woman in the photo that played an important role.

The campaign featured Katharine Johnson, a NASA mathematician who was responsible for the calculations that sent Apollo 11 to the moon. The campaign also highlighted Nobel Prize winner Lise Meitner and First Lady Edith Wilson. As a result, the campaign was a huge hit on social media and went on to win multiple awards.

ALS Association – ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

The ALS #Icebucketchallenge is one of the most well-received and memorable campaigns as it had such a massive impact on social media. Not many were aware of the ALS disease until people started pouring ice buckets over their heads on social media. Many of the high-profile people including Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and Oprah Winfrey stepped into the challenge, making the campaign a success with over 2.4 million videos online and more than $115 million dollars donated to the foundation.

Study Material Science & Engineering in Australia

Sharing is caring :)

The development of many technologies that made our lives easier has been associated with the accessibility of advanced materials. Understanding material type and its properties are prerequisites for a technology to evolve gradually. This course is suitable for students who are curious about learning new things and enjoy conducting research. This article will help students to decide if the material science and engineering course is the right one for them.

What is Material Science & Engineering?

Material science and engineering (MSE) combine the principles of engineering, chemistry, physics and maths to study how the structure of matter in solid materials determines the structure and composition of the materials. Common materials used in this study include metals, polymers, ceramics, alloys and composites.

A degree in material science and engineering allows students to gain theoretical and practical knowledge that will put them at the cutting-edge of innovation in developing strong, environmentally friendly and lighter materials. Students will study the scientific properties and engineering process of materials. They also will learn the interaction of these properties to improve the sustainability of existing materials or invent new ones.

Applications of Material Science & Engineering

Many engineers depend on material science engineers for advanced materials to design and manufacture their products. For example, aerospace engineering requires materials such as titanium alloys, high-strength steel and composites which will be able to withstand various temperatures and improve flight performance.

In electronic material, research in quantum computing requires material science and engineering. Material science engineers use the lithography process to design microprocessors or microchips that are inside our computer.

As for bio-materials, material scientists and engineers conduct research on improving the quality of hip replacements and other materials that are safe to be used as prosthetic limbs. 3D printed tissues such as organ replacements are also part of the application of material science and engineering.

Skills Required to Study Material Science & Engineering

Material science engineers work in teams to develop new material or improve existing ones. The following will be the skills required in this sector:

Effective communication skill – The work usually involves presenting outputs, designs, specifications and new procedures to different audiences.

Critical Thinking – Using logical reasoning to overcome potential challenges during large-scale materials manufacture.

Advanced Computer Skills – Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) will help material science engineers in creating and modifying manufacturing drawings.

Active Learning – For example, material science engineers will need to understand the commercial aspects for new materials to be profitable or successful.

What does a Material Science Engineer do?

Material science engineers develop, process, and test materials that will make any product better, from computer chips and aircraft wings to golf clubs and biomedical devices. They study the properties and structures of metals, ceramics, alloys, composites and nanomaterials to create new materials that meet the requirements of individual engineering branch.

Where do Material Science Engineers Work?

Material science and engineering graduates have the opportunity to work in various industries that require advanced materials in developing their products including aerospace, automotive, nuclear industry, pharmaceuticals and oil and gas, etc.

Careers in Material Science & Engineering

Design Engineer – Design engineers research and develop new ideas for new products and the systems used to make them. They use computer-aided design and computer-assisted engineering (CAE) software to build prototypes of new products or processes and also improve existing ones.

Metallurgist – Metallurgists deal with extracting and processing metals. They evaluate the movement of metals and categorise them according to their functionality. There are three types of areas they can work in such as chemical, physical and process metallurgists.

Process Engineer – Process engineers develop new or improve existing processes to enhance the manufacturing process. They will evaluate and compose new processes to manufacture high-quality products and ensure the products can be replicated accurately.

Plastics Engineer – Plastics engineer designs and develops products with plastic material. They work with other teams to develop everything from the initial design to the processes and automation required to produce and finish the production parts.

Scholarships for SPM, IGCSE, A-Level and UEC Students in Malaysia 2021

Sharing is caring :)

Cost is a major factor in the student’s decisions when choosing a university. We understand that the cost of education can have a long-term impact on one’s life, therefore it is important to sort out the budget when making the decision. Scholarships can be a good financial aid option for students to get financial support in their studies, and the best part is they don’t have to be repaid! There are different scholarships provided by different private universities and colleges in Malaysia.

If you have thought of applying for a scholarship but have no idea where to begin or how to apply, this article will give you some ideas and also some recommendations!

Things to consider before applying for a scholarship

1. Do your research

After you have gotten your results, it is time for you to decide on which university to attend, what course to take, and not to forget to look for scholarships to ease your parents’ financial burden. There are various types of scholarships provided by the public sectors, private companies, and universities with their own specific scholarships. It is important to do your research and find out which type of scholarship suits you the best. Because different institutions have different requirements and offer different courses. Feel free to contact us for a free consultation!

2. Be mindful of the closing date

Just like the semester start date and application closing date, scholarship application also has its own deadlines, and it varies depending on the course and the institution. It is important to always be aware of the deadlines for the scholarships you are applying for. Institutions with a high volume of applications are likely to overlook late applications. Therefore it is important to mark the date, so that you will not miss it.

3. What they are looking for

It is essential to know exactly what the scholarship provider is looking for when considering who they will select as the recipient. Some universities require interviews before choosing the right scholarship holder, therefore it is important for you to showcase yourself and articulate why you think you are the best candidate for the scholarship.

Different institutions might require different qualifications. The common ones would be SPM or IGCSE. This article will also talk about the types of scholarships available for different qualifications.

As mentioned above there are different types of scholarships provided by different sectors. In this article, we are giving you a list of scholarships available mainly provided by private universities/colleges.
